I recently saw a printed certificate of honour from the Gebiet Franken for a Fronthelfer from December 1944. As we already know from last year's legendary Flakhelfer thread, the Fronthelfer formed a rare additional category like the Flak-, Marine- or Transporthelfer and were mainly used in the final phase of the war for entrenchment work.
I'm afraid I have to agree about the other thing you mentioned. It's not great when, being asked what it was like with the AHS, you go through a bunch of work to gather the information and translate it, and then the response is, um very meagre. It doesn't encourage you to do it again to that extent.

Must admit, I have not seen one before,
The lad was apparently not far away from home, as he was actually from Bann
241 (Gummersbach) and he was born at Dieringhausen, which is in the area just
south of Gummersbach .
