The 2nd revised and definitive edition of the book HITLER YOUTH QUEX - A Guide for the English-speaking Reader was published in September 2024, and supersedes the 1st edition book. The new expanded book has 442 pages, 67 illustrations, including 13 full-color plates. The chapter on the title role actor, Jürgen Ohlsen, is 18 pages, including previously unpublished photos and his WWII Wehrmacht military activities fighting on the Eastern Front for over 3 years, and being awarded both the Second Class and First Class Iron Cross and his evacuation to a Lazaret outside of Vienna after being severely wounded in 1944. US$54.95 from Hitler Youth Quex: A Guide for the English Speaking Reader 2nd Expanded Edition Book (International Historic Films, Chicago, IL. USA).

This publication for German apprentices in the graphic arts and printing industry featured 'Quex' on its front cover in September 1933, and displayed the Ufa flm studio newspaper advertisement for the premiere of the film in Berlin on the back cover, as shown. There was an illustrated article in the issue about the new Hitlerjunge Quex film, which proudly mentioned to its reeders that whereas Heini Völker in the novel was a carpenter's apprentice, in the film he was a printer's apprentice, I cite this magazine and article on the film in my book HITLER YOUTH QUEX –A GUIDE FOR THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING READER. I did not have the complete issue of the magazine at the time I researched the book - just the article - so it is
interesting to see how the magazine promoted the film with its cover image, the film ad on the back cover, as well as the article inside with various small reproduction of scenes from the movie. This issue was purchased from an Antiquariat in Germany last week.-- Wm. Gillespie
