As a collector of hj/bdm and mouthorgans, I read a lot of information about them.
The only reference for a hj/bdm harmonika I found was the "neue jugend" from Hohner.
A lot of folks write the there was no such thing as a hj harmonika.

Well.. I found this beautiful one!
The only one I ever saw and no reference at all.

I think it is pre 1933 as Hitler had vorbidden the "sa marschiert" mundharmonika because he did not want "non folklore" instruments connected to the nazi organisation.

I am sure this one is legit.
The harmonika is themed the same say as the carton box, as it should.

In my opinion a VERY unique and lovely piece.

Enjoy.

Very nice to see that you even have the box for it :thumb:

Yes, although there was no official (RZM-approved) mouth organ for the youth the instrument was, of course used. It was removed from the list of approved instruments for musical units by the RJF in 1938 but remained in use as a permitted musical accompaniment for campfire sing-songs and the like.

Here's an excerpt from the orders:

Hi Werner,

the "Mundharmonika" was almost always the first musical instrument given to a German boy, even in the 1950s and 1960s.
An instrument of the world-famous brand "Hohner" was usual.

That's just a little hint on your topic, unfortunately I don't have my earlier harmonicas anymore, it's a shame... :(
