Fritz Strauß was born in 1883. He wrote several books from 1929 to 1949.

"Auf zur Fahrt" was first published in 1935, by the publisher Loewe in Stuttgart.

The book was on the postwar list of books banned by the Allies "Liste der auzusondernden Literatur" .
