Hello everyone.
I would like your opinion on the summer side cap I'm presenting here and I'm considering to buy . It has no RZM label ,no sweat band and a hand sewn diamond bevo .These are all the photos I have . The seller is asking for €375,- and my question is : what would you do , would you buy it or pass and wait for a better example to come along.

Hi Andreas,

The cap is undoubtedly an original. But I think the (authentic) diamond was added later. The white thread and the sloppy style do not speak in favour of a serial production according to the regulations. You can compare it here.

thank you very much for the info , I learned a lot. Especially the sloppy attached Bevo (beside the missing sweat band - now I know it was a late war construction ) and the missing RZM label put me off going for it .
So I found another summer cap , as I understand made between 1939 and April 1940. Can I ask you for your opinion about this one please? It shows some use but I do like the "been there look."

A good cap with a bonus badge for a Fahrtenmesser or cap
 
375€ with no tag or liner is incredibly high imo
 
I don't see any red flags or buts on the second one.
If the price is good for you, go for it.

By the way, the M1/78 badge for caps or knives is not yet in our database, so it should be added.
I think from what you can see it's actually for caps, the prongs look pretty short.
 
I checked the prongs and they are different to the knife ones , these are not as flat and not as wide and they do have a point at each end whereas the knife once's are rounded. This one is for a H.J. Visor Cap .
Great ,I bought it now thanks to your feedback.
It is not easy to get a proper H.J. side cap nowadays . I'm still looking for a late side cap with the cloth diamond sewn on. So if anyone has one for sale let me know.
How to add the M1/78badge to the database I don't know.

What difference does it make if a side cap has a RZM tag or not ? If it is still an original side cap , is it only the price ?
