Time for the Olympics! No, not Tokyo's because of our theme. This press photo by Hoffmann was taken almost exactly 85 years ago to the day and shows the award ceremony in weightlifting/featherweight,
Framed by the Egyptians Saleh Soliman and Ibrahim Shams, the American Anthony Terlazzo receives a small oak tree as the winner (with a new world record). In white, two Olympiahelferinnen/Olympic assistants, often students who spoke foreign languages.
Note the oak wreaths around the Egyptians' fez.
I am very happy to have this photo, which today's photographer could not have done any better.
