I was recently sent photos of this shoulder board. The owner had been told this was a NPEA Leader's strap of unknown rank. I do not think this is the case but then again there is little reference material available on these straps. It does not seem to compare well with Eric's examples here on the forum. Nor does it seem to match the illustrations on page 137 of Littlejohn's book. That said, I am not even sure how accurate the representation of the NPEA straps in Litttlejohn are. Wm mentions the leader straps in his book but does not go into detail as it is outside of the scope. Looking for information as far as an identification of this strap. And any information or reference for NPEA Leader's straps in general. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance ......

Hi kriegsmodell

I don't think that it is NPEA - I have just looked in Wim's book "Handbook og the Hitler-Jugend" - page 501-522.

In this one of the best books on Hitler-Jugend, there is nothing that just looks like your pictured the slightest bit.

Sorry that I can't help you more than that

Thanks for the response Michael. I agree that Wm's book is a great resource and perhaps the best single reference on the HJ. But as I mentioned in the original post the book does not provide information on the NPEA shoulder boards for leaders. The subject is only briefly mentioned on page 507 which states that the shoulder straps worn by ''leaders, advisors and instructors are not totally HJ related'' and therefore beyond the scope of the handbook.
