yes joe, have a look at the DJ equipment ive posted lately, all around a third smaller than HJ items, i belive these were used in an earlier period, the DJ being issued with normal HJ equipment later on in the years, this is only a theory of mine ,regards pete.

another question here: I have always considered this type of canteens usually with
    RZM
markings as HJ (I am referring to the larger one in the pic). There are also some civilian marked bottles which I believe they were also used. Now I am discussing on a black felt canteen with no markings on another forum. I see them from time to time on ebay.de but I always thought they may be swiss or postwar. Am I wrong again and they're instead HJ?
There is very few documentation on this subject

How can one determine if a bottle is regular Wehrmacht of HJ ? Any markings on it?
    Thanks!

I would also like to understand this subject better. I would assume that civilian models of water bottles were used due to economic reasons in some cases.

    I think those
    RZM
marked are HJ, but that's only my criteria

i belive rzm marked waterbottles are political, so could be any ''brown'' branch, nskk. sa, ss, daf etc. pete.

Hi Pete, but HJ falls under same regulations and as other items, should have the canteen
    RZM
    marked imo. Matt
