hi Garry.was this cloth used by the hj during public horse jumpimg shows or was this for something to do With the cavalry?
 
The patch is a qualification patch. Earned after displaying horsemanship skills set by a standard. Not a cavalry patch but worn to show the member was skilled in riding.

Personally , I dont like the silver embroiderd versions . I think we need to discuss them more in detail .
