I got two new boards and would like to introduce them to you. According to the seller, they were never separated and come from an NPEA guide from Austria.

A very nice acquisition, well done !
Could you tell us more about these shoulder-boards? For my part, it is a subject that is very poorly understood, so any explanation is welcome.

These are for an NPEA Anstaltsleiter (school director) and for an NPEA Erzeiher (teacher) respectively. On the Geländeanzug the shoulder straps were underlaid with a colour corresponding to the particular school. The colour on the teacher strap shows that he was employed at the NPEA in Spandau but if this is a strap taken from the normal uniform then this could be a teacher from any of the NPEA. If the Anstaltsleiter strap is from the wearer's Geländeanzug then he will have been at NPEA Ilfeld.

Here's the relevant page from Uniformen-Markt dated 1.3.1940:

If anyone needs this in a higher resolution just give me a shout and I'll email it to you. It shows that anyone trying to collect all of the variations of shoulder straps worn by personnel at the various NPEA is in for a loooong journey even if it is actually possible to find them all.

Hi Garry, I'm a newbie to this site. This is a fascinating thread, and I'd like to learn more about the NPEA uniforms. Could you possible send me a copy of the newspaper article. Thanks. Peter
