Great examples and unfortunately I can't confirm that, but I would be very interested in the Mitte Thüringen.
I'm curious if a member can confirm your suspicion.
 
Yes indeed. The function of the cord was to show that the wearer was a member of the BDM/JM before the 30th of Jan 1933. These cufftitles were worn on the BDM/JM leader uniform and replaced the sleeve triangle. Depending on the rank/appointment of the wearer, the cord was either silver or gold.

Thanks Garry for this information. I wasn't aware of this until now, or rather, I haven't really delved into the BDM/JM yet.
