A German friend of mine found a 1st edition of Der Hitlerjunge Quex novel at the Leipzig flea market for €38, and as he owns my new book on the subject, Hitler Youth Quex – A Guide for the English–speaking Reader, and knew of my collection of original materials on the film, he on–sold it to me for €38, and said that it was more important to be in my collection than is his. The Dust Jacket is damaged, as you can see in the photo, but both inside flaps are fully intact, and the book itself is a "Erstes bis zehntes Tausand" ©1932 first edition.
Having this book in my collection caps it off beautifully and I could not be happier. The second photo shows the 1st edition cover on the left, and the 1942 edition with the Ufa photo of Jürgen Ohlsen as Quex from the movie, which was used after late 1933 when the film was premiered, and on all book editions after the first five. The second photo is the image from my Quex book.

Congratulations on the great book and the first edition is also much rarer.

Thank you. I can confirm that neither the Leipzig nor the Frankfurt/Main depositories of the German National Library have a 1st edition copy, and none of their later editions have the first dust jacket, only the one with Ohlsen in his film uniform. The Bundesarchiv does not have a 1st edition, nor does the ZLB in Berlin. On the Internet I have not been able to find any German repository with one. I never thought I would own one, either. cheers, billy8
