A fascinating document.
Vera Schaeferkordt, or correctly spelt Schäferkordt (1924 - 1987) from Düsseldorf, was German champion in the 100 metre freestyle swimming event in 1942 and 1943. In this discipline, as your certificate shows, she won the title of European Youth Champion in Italy (although certainly only the Axis powers took part). In 1952, she took part in the Olympic Games, but hardly swam any faster than in Italy.

Thanks Jack
I wouldn't have thought I would find any information on her ! It's quite incredible and it makes the document even more interesting.
It had been "sleeping" in my archives for 15 years...

I wouldn't have expected to discover some details either. But that is what makes the story of an item complete, isn't it? Collecting and history are like twins. Great job, I wish you more catches like this, Bertrand.
