The piping and fabric looks period but from what I know the chain stitching should go through to the backside of the straps? Am I wrong is this just how they are commonly seen and there are variants? I removed these from you period uniform because they didn't match the period applied Gebeit 20 triangle of Süd Württemberg but if they are still period straps I'd like to keep them for a display down the road. What do you all think?

Cheers,
Adam

Hello Adam
I see nothing wrong with them. The embroidery isn't always visible on both sides, or only partially sometimes.

That's what I thought Bertl, but I'm not an expert on cloth insignia and I truly know enough just to be dangerous to myself, so to speak. Lol I thought everything looked good but I read a few places about the stitching being seen always on the back side, it made sense that it would be the average HJ shoulder boards but I thought there would have to be exceptions because they looked period in every respect even the style of stitching. So thanks they'll make a good display for me or someone else down the road working on a Süd Baden Gebeit project.

Regards
Adam

Okay. I'll try to take some pictures of the back of a few shoulder boards of the same pattern as soon as I have some time.

That would be great, a learning experience for everyone and I... Thanks
