If some of you have seen my thread already on a different forum you will find many photos you have probably already seen before however for those not familiar with me or my thread, I collect solely photos and documents of the kampfzeit (1919-1933) of various paramilitary organisations, primarily the NSDAP. In accordance with the theme of the forum this thread will be for the youth-wings of those organisations.

I invite any comments or discussion of the photos I post or corrections on what I say!

Starting off with one of the photos I am most proud of. A group of early Hitlerjugend musicians with a large factory in the background. I would guess the photo dates between 1928-1930

I have seen these swallows nests in only one other photo that I also own from a photo album of the 1929 Reichsparteitag. There's another photo from the Bundesarchiv floating around which shows swallows nests with the swastika in a circular white field however note that here the field the swastika is on on the swallows nest is square.

The background shows a sign;'...erei-Scholl'. Perhaps it is 'Backerei-Scholl' in Schwabisch hall? They have apparently existed since 1878 and seem to be a factory-style bakery so it is possible. Due to the lack of Google Street view in Germany, however, I'm unable to see if any of the buildings nearby the current day factory match up.

Super photp GIMMIE
from the very beginning of the Hj , i can see a lot of detail like the scarf knot , one of the first kind of cross strap used bei the NSDAP and many belt buckles
I like this kind of document
Thank you

You're welcome, Bert. Some of the scarfs seem to have some twisted piping tied around them instead of a scarf knot I think? The same as used on their shoulderboards. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen creative use of extra twisted piping.

Here's a small crop of the photo I spoke of. Center of the photo you can see more of these swallows nests. This was taken in front of the ehrenhalle on the Luitpoldhain during the 1929 reichsparteitag. The sign boldly displaying the Hitlerjugend symbol at this time displays;

'Saar Pfalz
Besetztes Gebiet'

Brilliant photos Gimmie ! Brilliant reference for these sorts of swallow nests. Never seen this type before. Looks like they are wearing armbands on their shoulders lol
This photo I have is of a different sort of swallow nest and is from 1932 (it’s dated on the back). Interesting to see the different variations that most people don’t know exists. Why threads like these are vital.
Thank you for sharing

National socialist youths. Unknown to me exactly what organisation they were or if they were just dressed in national socialist-like attire.

A group of Hitlerjugend in 1931-1932 would be my guess?

Thank you all for the lovely compliments.

'Uniformsverbot 1932' is written on the back of one of these photos. Hitlerjugend during the uniformsverbot.

While I own two photo albums related to the 1929 Reichsparteitag one of them is solely populated with photos from period buyable sets of pictures. This includes very infamous photos of this event in high quality and detail but also much lesser known captures I've yet to see anywhere else. This is a crop from one of those lesser-seen captures. I believe this group of young women are likely a contingent of National-sozialistische Jungmadchenschaft members which predates the Bund Deutscher madel. If you squint your eyes you can see the triangular badges on their neckerchiefs.

Forgive the lack of restoration on this capture. I rarely still restore photos, I'm sorry to say. I'm less inclined to do so than I used to be however I still hold the same passion for analyzing and digitalizing as I've always had.

As said in the original post, all paramilitary organisations in this period hold my interest. Here's young members of the Reichsbanner between 1931-1933 when it was merging into the Eiserne front as is visible from the three stripe armband.

Members of Bund Oberland and Jungbund Oberland. The location is unknown to me at present so if anyone has any clue, please do let me know.

The photo is dated October 28th 1923. Just under two weeks before the beerhall putsch that would render the bund illegal for their participation.

I believe the term is 'Jungbruder' for the youth of the Jungdeutscher orden?

That's right, Gimmie. "Jungdo" was modelled on a medieval order of knights, the Teutonic Order, with Großmeister, Hochmeister, Komtur and so on. In the summer of 1933 it dissolved itself and thus avoided being banned (thus saving its assets). The Reichssportführer von Tschammer und Osten was leader of the Ballei (regional association) of Saxony for three years in the 1920s.
