Nice letter written and sent from Bremen by a member of the DJ. Unfortunately I don't have the cover. On the other hand, it´s more common to find covers than content. With reservation for possible errors, I have translated the content into English.

Br., November 23, 1941

Dear Erich!

Thank you very much for your letter. It's finally Sunday again, and one can stretch one's legs a bit. Things weren't so bad at school last week, though; Rauchfusd's (?) son fell in the fighting in the East, and Arthur didn't show up last week. But there was plenty of work to do in the Jungvolk. Since the beginning of October, I've been a youth group leader in the 4th Jungzug (Junior Platoon). In November of this year, I was finally confirmed as Hordenführer (Group Leader). Jungstammführer (Junior Troop Leader) C. Cordes joined the Waffen-SS in November, and W. Jansen is now in charge. Fäfü Peters is taking his Abitur (university entrance exams) and has also resigned. Günther Klaus has been appointed in his place. And finally, Egon Buddi, who, by the way, is the press officer in the Fähnlein (Junior Troop) and editor of our Sigrun-Käseblättlen (Sigrun Cheese Newsletter), has replaced Ingo Benoit. "Mr." Benoit now enjoys a reputation as the head of the junior troop in the company. You see – everything's new in May. Only after his resignation had Chief Troop Leader Peters decided to have a junior troop secret carried out in Junior Troop 4. Okay, every junior troop should support something. I (at that time I was already a junior troop leader) chose a bunker. That sort of thing is fun, but if there's no time for crafting, you lose interest. I had to work pretty hard. But the bunker turned out well. Last Wednesday, Wolf Kain and I performed a great murder mystery play in which I played a millionaire. Our costumes were excellent. We glued on "real" beards, Kain got himself a bowler hat (you know), and I had a high collar and monocle. Everything went well. About two weeks ago, we also had a proper 10 cm snowfall here.

Many greetings from your Hans.

Enclosed: 1 photo, 1 Sigrun cheese leaf. Thank you so much for sending me your… (illegible).
