Great photo. Young chap who saw plenty of fighting. The CT is a new one on me and I don't see anything about it in the regulations. My guess would be that due to his wounds he was seconded to the training staff at a Gebietsführerschule.

I took a close look at the cuff title. I am certain that it doesn't say "HJ". The first letter before the "J" is either a "B" or an "E".
Furthermore, he wears the SS-Police badge below the right breast pocket. The photo turns a few things on their head.

On the right side of the jacket's collar there is also a badge, too bad it's not visible

That must be an edelweiss

it's the Austrian type of Edelweiss as to be found
with much Szabo photos.

He was from Steiermark , after all, so the edelweiss fits perfectly.

Yes, definitely not "H". This one is bugging me now Perhaps the J stands for Junker and he is teaching at an SS leadership school? Even if that is true what the hell is that first letter?

Could the first letter be an R - so it says:

R J FÜHRERSCHULE

If it's an R it could be a sleeveband from

ReichJugend Führerschule - see picture of text.

That does make sense Michael. I'll have to see if I can find a reference to a CT like this in the leadership training orders.

Edit: all they say is that students at the academy wore the shoulder straps and sleeve triangle of their home Bann. The guy in the photo may well have been an instructor then. Sadly nothing in the orders about their uniforms...
