I am collector of HJ items and I am looking at my first shooting badge. I know that it is a minefield with mostly fakes floating around. I saw this one advertised as being made by Herder&Engels. The location of the maker's Mark seems different from most that I have seen.

I have read on this forum that perhaps most of the real HJ shooting badges are of this M1/63 maker's mark. I don't know if this too applies to this DJ badge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

M1/63 was Steinhauer und Lück from Lüdenscheid.

Thank you for your quick response. So if the M1/63 maker's mark is for Steinhauer und Luck, then I take it that they were a known maker of DJ shooting badges. Correct? But regardless of the maker, do any of you think that this is a reproduction or that it is the real deal? Thanks!

I agree with Jo. It looks fine. Other good makers are M1/77 and M1/52. The rest is a mine field I guess...
