Great photo, thanks for posting it. Yes, very different from normal, or the less common metal sigrune scarf knot.

probably a privately acquired piece, probably never officially suggested, and thus typical for a photo of that time.
If you would call it an "aftermarket product" today, I don't know of any other photos with it...
