I've thought about this a lot over the years (boring git I know) but theoretically the highest Gefolgschaft/Fähnlein number possible on a strap button would have been 99. However there are much bigger unit numbers out there. The highest unit number I have come across so far is Gefolgschaft L/173. What would those boys have had on their buttons?

Interesting topic, and I personally never thought it would ever exceed 100 followers. How powerful must a banishment have been to have 100 followers?

This is a good point, and I'm looking forward to many responses.

Thanks for showing that. Indeed, very high. The girls obviously didn't have the shoulder button but the Mädelgruppen go even higher. I have one here: Mädelgruppe 218/130. Mental :)

Hi UTH1308,

the Fähnlein represents the Bann - Jungbann number.

regards Steve

For a Bann number greater than 100, the buttons might have no number, or, second theory (even less credible I think!!), one button on one side to indicate the hundreds and the tens on the other!!?? :ROFLMAO:
More seriously, I think that neither of these solutions was used.
