Hi all, I have just bought this hat which looks mint, no moth bites or damage. And that's seems to be the only good thing! The material is dark black, quite thin compared to my other winter cap and has no smell whatso ever( that old type smell). I think the cardboard sweatband is stitched funny to the cloth material, also the way the peak is finished on the inside, behind the sweatband. The RZM label would seem to be original but doesn't have the same wear and tear like the hat itself. Questionable is also the way the label has been stitched onto the hat. The alu buckle looks mint but the stamp looks odd? The strap seems to be fake leather. My own opinion is that it is fake, but please let me know what you think.

Hi again , the shape of the top of the hat is round , not longish as you would expect it and the peak has a raised edge on top of the rim running all around it , about 1cm wide and 2mm high.
Hmm, I really wonder if this is a fake .
thanks for watching
Andreas

Hello
Does anyone have any comment or idea ? I have to know if I have to return the cap or if it is good to keep.
thank you

Hello
I see nothing wrong with this cap . The buckle , the back of the eyelets , and In general, the construction is OK for me.The leather or imitation leather strap is normal for such cap. I am surprised by the high quality of the fabric. I think it is an early design because of the sweatband, as many caps do not have one. I found a similar label in my archives. The only thing missing is the diamond stitching on the inside.

Hello bertl59,
thank you for your comment. I'm a kind of scared because my other H.J. Winter hat looks so different ,more ruff while this one - like the fabric - looks and feels so soft . So you think it is no problem that the label is sewn in separately and not tied in like you would see in H.J. side caps. The other thing that really worries me is the finish of the peak inside the cap , it's not covered with the inside cloth which I have never seen before.( see picture number 6 ). I understand you are saying it is a keeper . What manufacturing year would you put on it ?
thank you very much for your help.
Andreas

I don't think sewing the label is a problem. I'm not an expert with this type of cap, but to me, the quality is far too good for a copy. Someone like Wim Saris could certainly help you. Try contacting him via PM.

Regards.
