Hey all,
I recently got this hitler youth theater ticket from Gau Kurmark. A couple of questions I have is
1. What does Parkett mean? and why would it be added in red pencil?
2. I cant find much refernce to UFA Guckkasten
3. Price was changed? Any ideas why?
4. Is there a way of finding out which exact theater this would of been at?
5. Is there anymore info into what happened on this night at the theater?

Thank you all

(it also came with another small paper ticket)

Hi,
It looks very much like standardised tickets for the Jugendfilmstunde/Youth film hour (hint: check the keyword in the German Wikipedia for more information. I find it very revealing that the events were held on Sunday mornings from 1934 onwards, which of course clashed with attending a church service.)

In the cinema as in the theatre there are different seating categories, Parkett means the stalls. Because there was only one type of ticket, the category was written on by hand.

I'm afraid you won't be able to find out the cinema.

Why the price increase? Many things became more expensive during the war. That would be one possibility. But the price is still dirt cheap.

As always, thank you Jack !

Gau Kurmark was in the northeastern part of Germany in 1933, east of Berlin, in Brandenburg. It was dissolved in 1945, and today, parts of that area are still in Germany and parts in present-day Poland. The word Guckkasten is not a city or town where that cinema was located. The word Guckkasten means "peepshow," like a large box you looked into to see a theater scene recreated in miniature in the 18th century. So a fun name for a movie theater. If you can locate a copy of the "Handbuch des Films 1935/36," published by Verlag Hoppenstedt & Co; Berlin 1935, edited by Alexnader Jason, it has a detailed list of all cinemas in Brandenburg and I bet that the Guckkasten is listed, which would tell you which town it was in and also the seating capacity.
