For a collector friend, I should have the authenticity determined and hope to be in the right place here. I'm not familiar with the badges myself. What do you think about this piece and the collector is dissolving his collection. The badge could also be purchased.

Looking just at the edge of badge in post #1, it does not show any signs of having been sheared and I would agree with B's opinion.
