New to the forum. I'm trying to research but can't see others' posted images without posting first, so here ya go.

Been after WWII german militaria for some time now (mainly helmets) but just picked this HJ up today at an antique store for a decent price. Looks to be legit, as it passes all of the litmus tests. Any feedback greatly appreciated

It is the normal trademark for Höller :denmark

Thanks brother, good to know. The only FWs I've seen online don't have the thermometer, just F.W. Holler and/or RZW M7/33. I thought I may have something unique. Can anybody comment on the approximate year this one might have been made? I'm guessing transitional or late war...

The "Blut und Ehre" inscription on the blade disappeared during/after 1938 - and later the knives only was marked with RZM-code (as far as I know), and as your knive is without "Blut und Ehre" but with both RZM-marking and marker mark, my guess is 1939-40.

I hope that Russ se this thread, because he is a specialist in knives/daggers :first:, and I am sure that he can tell you more.

Right on. I actually just found the same logo on a Luftwaffe sword on another site

A nice original knife. The plating on the hilt looks to have held up very well so I expect it is magnetic steel rather than zinc?

Regards

Russ

thanks for your input. Good to hear I have an authentic wartime piece. Actually, I was very surprised that the hilt is not magnetic. You can see a couple of small places where the pommel was rubbed off and the bluish color was exposed underneath. The rivets, blade, and scabbard are all magnetic.
