Hello People,

First of all, awesome forum. learned a lot.

Got some questions. I am interested in a HJ knife, that is for sale on a web shop.

aboutww2militaria.com/hitlerjugend-fahrtenmesser-transitional-m-768-rzm-tiger-solingen.html

It is listed for 5 4 0 euros.

Seller says it is expensive because the maker is rare. (Tiger solingen m7/68)

I have seen multiple sites that offer these knives, for a lot less.

I would like your opinion, anything goes.

Thanks!

The knife appear original, but, as said not rare and the condition is kind of rough. IMO at that price a nicer conditioned example can be found. There are plenty of H.J. knives on the market.

Well, I decided to buy this one instead
Carl Eickhorn early type knife

Here's what I learned from personal research:

All parts are magnetic.
The makers' stamp is a 31-32 Carl Eickhorn one. Found on wardaggers. com / Carl_Eickhorn.htm
The motto can be felt with a fingernail
Low ricasso -> early knife
Small diamond with "gold" color. edges look faded which should indicate authenticity
Diamond not parallel with the knife handle pattern.

Only thing is, the diamond does not move. And, the blade looks touched / polished.

What do you guys think?

Hi Hravn

I.m.o. it looks as a fine original HJ knife - and remember, not ALL grip-diamonds move.

I hope that pic 3 has been taken in a special angel, as the size ratio between grip and blade looks wrong.

As per the Eickhorn-mark - se below - it looks as yours is the last of the 2 ones. Both used in the period 1931-33. As the production of HJ-knifes started 1933, it would not have been good if the markers mark was older than that !

To see if the blade is polished, I have to have it in my hand.

Overall, a nice knife, congrats :clap2:

Thank you for your time.
The grip is approx 3cm shorter than the blade. Will measure later for more accurate results. So yes the angle is probably wrong.

Edit: handle is approx. 106mm
Blade from fingerguard to tip
approx. 138mm.

Hi Hravn,
Looks like a nice knife, and I have had a few genuine examples where the diamond did not move.
