How is this MHJ tally possible?

Really odd! Bann 1 has never been Breslau but Königsberg - I have a photo of a boy with 7/1 Königsberg tally.

Between Königsberg and Breslau are over 500 km (300 miles)! How the hell is this tally possible?

No idea, but there was an identical cap tally at the recent Thies auction. Or was it this one?

Only logical explanation for me is that it must be a fake..

That is possible of course, but unlikely due to the construction of the tally. Meaning, the tally appears in all respects period and in my experience, almost no fake MHJ tallies have been produced. There are some strange ones, but not fake ones due to the inscription--handmade, non regulation due to possibly very early production. This one does not appear to be fake, so there has to be another explanation. Garry's database clearly shows that "1" is Konigsberg.

I hope Garry, Wim and others will be able to shed some light on the issue. John

Königsberg is indeed Bann 1 and located at Ostland (Gebiet 1, Altpreussen);
Breslau is normally Bann 11 and located at Schlesien (Gebiet 4, Mittelschlesien).

My only thought is that during the weaving-process one number 1 must have
been forgotten and the tally in fact is a blunder! The tally looks okay to the old
weaving process-procedure.
