Just looking at some references from 1944 which talk about a "new" BDM jacket and how to wear badges on it, cloth diamond etc. It was apparently in blue cloth and was a replacement for the Kletterweste. Anyone know any more about it?

Possibly this pattern ?

Thanks Joe. The source only describes a couple of details of the jacket and there is no picture but I suppose it could be that one. Where did you find it?

It is this one, mentioned in the "Mitteilungsblatt der RZM"", number 6 from September 9, 1943, page 43
as BDM- JM-Jacke, which came instead of the older Velveton Weste. The complete desctiption was included
on page 44 and 46. The following pages mentioned where the jacket was to be delivered per district. The
list included Böhmen und Mähren (43), the Generalgouvernement (44), Niederlande (45), Osten (46),
Ostland (47) and Ukraine (48). The last was to be delivered from the Wartheland (38). The Netherlands
were to be delivered from Berlin, Alex Monno & Co. The districts 44, 46 and 47 through Hans Lang from
Kalisch in the Wartheland and L.Linden from Posen (Wartheland).

It looks as the one Joecool shows, but the collar was to be worn open.

Due to the introduction of this new jacket, the skirts for BDM and JM did change also.
Most will not know about this fact!

I also see a change to the BDM/JM blouse late-war. The JM version lost two buttons around the hem and the buttons were removed from the pockets. The orders say that a "silver-grey" material was to be used. Sounds like the material that was previously used for the BDM Fahrtenbluse. Do you see that in the Mitteilungsblatt too Wim? This info and the info about the skirts could be useful for a new thread.

In the Mitteilungsblatt der RZM, number 7 from November 20, 1943
drawings for the blouses were included: Herstellungsvorschrift für
BDM- und JM-Blusen.

Simultaneously it was noted that there were delivery problems for the claws for the
jackets and it was allowed look-a-likes to be used in dark-blue or black, when the
size also was about as the one prescribed. This was to a manufacturers choice!

Further it was noted that the Netherlands and the Generalgouvernement were no
longer allowed to be delivered with BDM clothings, but also for the HJ.

One should further note that the delivery of most of the HJ and BDM clothings was
not longer allowed after December 1944. Especially noted were BDM and JM
skirts, jackets and blouses. As far as I understand stocks could be delivered for
civil purposes.
