This was listed by the auction house as as having been made for "museums and collectors" in the post-war period. This description could lead to a situation where insufficiently informed readers might believe that a knife with a blue HJ diamond (and that awful etch) existed 1933-45 and that it was an official, regulation part of the Marine-HJ uniform and that this a copy of such a knife. This is, of course, demonstrably not true. Sadly, someone paid 1250 Euros plus VAT on the commission for this thing...

I also had to pay a lot of money, but it was at the beginning of collecting and mainly for patches that didn't cost that much. Mostly it was a spontaneous purchase at the flea market.

I can't understand this with items like this, as you have enough time to find out whether something like that existed. Unfortunately, I have no sympathy for such people.
