Hello collectors, last week I visited a good friend who runs a museum and occasionally sells militaria that his friends bring him. While I was there, I went through crates full of original equipment and carefully inspected every bag and tornister for stamps and names. Most of the items were not marked at all, but then I found this dirty bag for only €10. Inside, it is stamped four times with “N.P.E.A. Rufach” (today Rouffach, France).
I really checked everything very carefully, and I can’t find many stamped pieces overall. This one, however, clearly is. I can also imagine that these stamps might have been overlooked at first, because they are very faded and the bag itself is heavily worn and dirty.
I have no idea whether it was actually part of NPEA equipment. The fact that it is stamped four times seems unusual. However, I’m convinced the stamps are original, and I believe the bag has a story to tell.
Do any of you have an idea what this item might have been back then (a backpack, sea bag, or something else), or do you think it’s just junk? Thank you!
