New Book By Tieste

I have the TIESTE 2002 edition, I hope the quality will be better, because in black and white the images do not give a good overview of the badges, my book is by A-K.

May I ask what this book is all about, unfortunately the name "Tieste" means nothing to me?

He is what many would call an expert on WWII donation & event badge often referred to as tinnies. I’m guessing they are called tinnies because a good many were made out of various types of thin inexpensive metals.
His books depict numerous “tinnies” along with some of what is own about them. I’m sure others here can do a better job of answering your question.
By the way he also sells them at www.Tieste.de

Thank you Carlyle, now the penny has dropped to me also... ;)

I think the German designation "Veranstaltungsabzeichen" hits the nail on the head.
Those were the inconspicuous badges in our early collecting years. There was hardly any literature about it, these badges were given away or found for little money at a flea market.

Thanks again for the tip, you never stop learning... (y)
