A bit of historical background to these: in January 1941, the Prussian province of Oberschlesien/Upper Silesia (Gau Oberschesien) was re-established together with the territories annexed from Poland and those that had belonged to the German Reich until 1918/19. This also made it necessary for the HJ to create an Gebiet of the same name.
