What can you tell me about this knife? It is said to be for the Hitler Youth (HJ) Guard Unit. I can't find much information about the knife, but it's longer than the usual "Fahrtenmesser" and has a completely different blade. The manufacturer is E.&F. Hörster Solingen.

In Thomas M. Johnson’s book “Collecting the Edged Weapons of The Third Reich” vol. 3 is this HJ bayonet mentioned as a bayonet of the “Wachgefolgschaft”.

BUT he writes: “The Hitler Youth is said to have issued a special 34,5 cm long dress bayonet to members of its watch units”. He also writes: “Another distinguishing feature of this bayonet is said to have been the absence in all cases of a false edge at the tip of the bayonet”.

As you can see from the above, it is not documented knowledge from original sources, but as Johnson himself writes, it is assumptions (is said....).

Unfortunately, I cannot contribute documentation, as I have not come across pictures or text from original sources that deal with this bayonet.

However, I have found this on the internet, but am not entirely sure where it comes from, but it appears to be from the "Organiosationsbuch der NSDAP" year 1943. I do not have access to the 1943 edition, but you might try to access it yourself.

Happy hunting for more information about your bayonet (y)
