Let's debate Landjahr triangles

Hello,

Here is a picture of the first one (found on the net) that shows a yellow on black triangle (see the difference with the white of the armband).

Here is an insignia of the "Deutsche Pfadfinderschaft" (one of the many scouting organisations of the 30th). I have read that the reason of the particular 2nd Landjahr triangle colors came from the filiation with this group... and I have also read that it was the filiation with the "Bund der Artamanen".

Widukind, this is just what the book says. I don't know if it is correct or not. I am just repeating what the reference says. I am sure there will be lots of debate about the book and its contents.

I have just received W.Saris's book , ordered on Ebay. This Book is fantastic and I recommend it.
The collection gives many surprises ! .
I admit that I made a mistake...., and I confirm you the existence of the triangle "Landjahr" with letters in Yellow.

Hi Widukind. I have also been incorrect in some areas. Still reading through some of the chapters. This book has already stirred some debate up, and I am sure more will follow.
 
I jumped for joy by seeing all the shoulder straps and all the photographed triangles.
You noticed that the BDM ' s triangle is not in the book.....!
 
Yes I did notice that Widukind. It is indeed a rare triangle, you are fortunate to have that in your collection. I am happy to see so many great straps as well. The photographs are excellent.
 
I was reading some period stuff on the Landjahr just now and was reminded of this excellent thread. I came across a couple of dates which confirm the dates given by Widukind earlier on. Although there is no confirmation on whether there was a male and female Landjahr triangle (first pattern) I thought the info would still be useful.

In the original law which introduced the Landjahr on the 29th of March 1934 it is stated that the boys and girls were to wear the Landjahr patch which had been created by the Ministry for Sciences, the Arts and Education. This must be the black one. As I say, there is no mention of different triangles for males and females but certainly by the 20th of July 1935 the black version had been replaced by the green version as the green one is clearly mentioned as being in use in the 'Dienstanweisung für das Landjahr' published on that date.

I was sort of hoping that this forum would bring out a few more of these black ones, but none surfacing so with only one known example surviving so far that would indicate extreme rarity and the actual extent of it's issue. It is of course hard to tell from period photos but no real data from this source either so was it actually issued ??

Hi Garry,
I thank you for approving my theory as well as dates. However, the triangle Landjahr with yellow letters has really existed since I saw it in a large collection in Hamburg. Sorry, I have no photos.
Here is the comment of the German specialists: the black triangle Landjahr with white letters was worn by boys and girls and was officially authorized by the Reichsjugendführung from 1934 until the end of 1935. In contrast, the black triangle with the yellow letters was only allowed in some Länder and has never been formalized by the Reichsjugendführung. This is strange for an organization that wanted the order and discipline ......now, each of us will be free to interpret this version.:001_tongue:

Unfortunately not. Me too I had doubts, and when the book of Sarris was published, I did not know what to think. The photo of Debertex is a proof
 
I've been told by Jeff Hammond that he once examined a black with yellow lettering Landjahr "hands on" and was sure it was period after having it in his possesion. He's been collecting for a long time with exposure to a lot of items, I usually rely on what he says as being accurate.
 
Just so that I'm not misunderstood here :) I'm not placing the black/yellow in doubt. I haven't mentioned them as I have nothing here which mentions them either. Seems clear though that black/white is the 'norm' with black/yellow needing a nice period reference to be the cherry on the top.
