Marine-HJ cap tally collection

Hi Marine-HJ, it's true that online translators are not always reliable. I was able to enlarge the photo and saw that it was indeed a “seeberufsfachschule” tally. By the way, I received the badge today!

Hi , nice badge , but have you ever seen it being used by a M-HJ member , and if you do would you mind showing it please ?

I have always been convinced it was made only for the SA-marine students and have not seen it once on an M-HJ uniform.
I just ask because if anyone does have the proof they where used by the Marine HJ i need to update my research files. 😃

Here you can see one in wear , but that’s an SA Marine.
Anyway , it’s a very beautiful insignia and I would not mind it to put one in my own collection as wel.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your comment. For me, it's the 1st time I've seen an SA-Marine with this badge! I'll get back to you by June 6 as I'm abroad. Best regards.

Sure , we will get back to the subject when you return. Meanwhile stay safe and to return to the subject of the treath…

I know they aren’t actually MHJ members but I guessed they are close enough and I could share these two Flemish NSJV members , both wearing cap tally’s for propaganda purposes only since the plan to establish a Marine branch of the organisation was stopped and forbidden by the occupier till the war was over.

You can see that one is wearing the well known “Horst Wessel” on his cap , most likely put on it when he was on the ship for schooling purposes.

The other is wearing a tally that says “Antwerp” and other then on this photograph I have never seen or heard of someone else finding or owning one.

I have recently started to hunt after both of them actually , but i’m afraid I’m only going to be half succesfull when that hunt is over.
(So if anyone has or knows where I can find the Horst Wessel tally for sale , please let me know 🙂)

Cheers!

Good evening,

Many thanks for your contributions. Especially the Merseburg portrait is a beauty! Keep 'em coming.
Here below my example of a boy from Bautzen.

Good evening again.

Well, I'm a little puzzled by this post - what detail on this photo makes this boy to a Marine-SA member? The Seeberufsfachschul - institutions were the NCO pre-schools of the Kriegsmarine. And the boy, displayed on this photo wears the absolutely typical shirt (and cap).
So, in other words - boys/men assigned to one of these institutions were done with their MHJ services by then. That's also the reason why it is impossible to see a MHJ boy with Seeberufsfachschule insignia.

Hi , thanks for clearing this up and explaining what those patches where actually used for.

Now that I have some free time on my hands I’m trying to educate myself some more about the different branches the actual German HJ counted , as I’m happy to admit my knowledge abouth those was and still is severely lacking after spending most of my attention at foreign (mostly Flemish) youth and other collaboration organisations.

I had the photograph saved with my files as being SA-marine but that surely must have been a mistake I made at the time I saved it.
After doing a quick search where I might have picked that up I came up with nothing as well, so I gladly stand corrected and apologize for any confusion I might have caused , which totally wasn’t my intention when I made that post. 🫣

So when understood correctly those arm shields , and also the cap tally’s which read “Seeberufsfachschule” is something for KM NCO ‘s and one would never have seen being worn in the MHJ.
This is exactly why I vallue the existance of this forum as much as I do… Making mistakes is only human but the opportunity to learn from those mistakes is something rarely encountered at certain other places, where being ridiculed seems to have became the norm , opposed to being explained where you got it wrong and how to remember it in the future…

Thanks for that. 🙂

Good evening,

Well, you hit the nail on the head there: a forum is there to educate yourself and/or to learn from others how things are. This is, btw, also one reason for me to be a frequent visitor (and contributor). There are so many very knowledgeable members on here where I sometimes ask myself 'where the heck do they learn stuff like that'. And the other thing: members in here are willing to share knowledge as long as you have the will to read up yourself and not asking a question which was answered two posts before.

P. S.: come on gents, show us your MHJ cap tallies and portraits, please!

Btw, Helmut Weitze has always a SSS Horst Wessel for sale. However, whether or not you wish to invest 300odd Euro for a Reichsseesportschule with just a fancy name us up to you. I value the tally not more than 170 Euro.

Hello everyone ! My latest acquisition : Altrhein 2/841. Does anyone have a photo ?
