Displaying strap with button

How do you display a shoulder strap with a button "attached"?

I see straps displayed with buttons, but I never see the back side to show how the button is held in place...

If you know how its done, can you share pics of the backside?

I am looking to replicate this.

In earlier decades, people simply threaded a broken matchstick (as it would otherwise be too long) through the shank of the button.
The shoulderstraps were then glued to the back panel of the display case, or sometimes nailed on.

However, a thicker wire or a smaller nail would certainly work just as well to hold the button in place.
