Dear members,

I just joined the forum, so please excuse me if this post is in the wrong place. I’m just getting used to the site.

I’m posting this HJ Proficiency badge for reassurance that it is an original. Although I am a 50 year collector and researcher, I have just entered the HJ arena and have no experience with HJ awards as yet so your combined help will be of great benefit to me.

Apologies for the picture quality…….

Best regards

Tony A

Hi Tony

In my opinion, you have a nice original HJ Proficiency badge in silver - made by RZM M1/35 which is Wachtler & Lange, Mittweida. :clap2:

Mine is made by the same company.

Hi Michael,

Many thanks for your thoughts, although mine is maker marked m/34 rather than m/35. Would that be Karl Wurster ?

Best regards

Tony

Hi Tony

Sorry sorry - my finger had slipped down a line in the list of RZM codes :h - mine is also M1/34 and it is Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen.

I can add that the stamped numbers on the back are of the same type as on mine.

All good Michael ! Thanks for your update.

As far as I am aware mine is a 1942 award. I would like to use the number indexes on the forum, but do you know how I join the Blue Group ? I press the join button but nothing happens.

Best regards

Hi Tony

Try writing to Garry - he's the administrator on the forum, so he can definitely help you.

I think you can do it like this:
Click on the envelope in the top right corner
Then click on "Start a new conversation"
In the "Recipients" field, write Garry - and then you can start with the text to him.

Regarding the year of award, I think it's earlier than 1942, mine has no. 60240 and was awarded in April 1939.

Thanks Michael. I just realised that you may well be right about the award date of my badge, as I also have some other items such as a Luftwaffe Wehrpass and medals that show that the recipient was born in 1924 and joined the Luftwaffe in August 1941 at the age of 17 and he had the HJ badge then. I am using his picture as my avatar and he is wearing it in November 1942 with his flak badge.

Best regards

Tony
