Let's talk about the 'Deutsches Jungvolk knife' and the 'BDM knife'

IF the image is original and not AI-manipulated, it does not prove anything about BDM and DJ knives. :h

It just means that at that time a civilian version of an HJ-like knife was made for camping. It is also possible today to buy an HJ-like knife with a French fleur-de-lis in the handle instead of the HJ mark.

Incidentally, the knife next to it does not have the same scabbard as the one on the catalog page.

By the way, I completely agree with WernerBamberg (y)

As the guys have said, that flyer cannot and should not be used to justify the "DJ" and "BdM" knives that are hawked around on dealer sites today. The knife shown is completely different in appearance and the flyer itself does not make a link between the knife and the DJ/BdM. My article here: DJ Knife shows that there was indeed a small knife shown in a 1936 Klaas catalogue that is of the same design as the "DJ" knife albeit without HJ emblem on the scabbard. From the article:

"The small knife with iron hilt and steel blade is pictured here in a 1930s Klaas catalogue (far left). The catalogue makes no connection to the HJ, DJ or BDM and indeed shows the company's standard HJ/DJ knife on another page so we can be 100% sure that these small knives were totally separate from the former and that the small knife did not have a designation or affiliation at this time.

Although we know that Klaas featured the knife in its product range, surviving examples are rare (left). Most knives found today are unmarked but in addition to the Klaas knives they can also be found marked "Emil Voos", "PUMA" and "E&F Hörster.

These small knives by various makers (or unmarked) are sold today as either "DJ", "DJ-HJ" or "BDM" with the "DJ" version being sometimes with and sometimes without the scabbard diamond. No evidence that these are true representations of the knife's function exists or has been offered by dealers and sellers. It is however reasonable to conclude that this small knife is the base product that was later transformed through the crude and amateurish application of a HJ membership diamond to the scabbard.

Verifiable evidence does not support the idea that this transformation took place before May 1945"

Despite many attempts over the years by dealers and sundry others, none of them have been able to refute the facts. The DJ carried the same knife as the HJ. There was no official knife made specifically for the DJ and BdM. No knife was ever part of the BdM/JM uniform.

This is an original Voos pre war knife, from my collection..
But.. also not listed as DJ or BDM, but it is considered late 20's, early 30's.

Smaller knifes did exist back then (as Garry writes in the previous post) , but no link proofs that they are HJ family..
