Wow , what a picture ! You are right : The instrument in his hands is a "Schalmei" . First used by the Communists the SA and HJ soon overtook them . It can be also that Communists who left the "Rote Front" to join the SA or HJ ( this happened very often ) brought these instruments to the National Socialists. There are not many photos displaying the Schalmei.I recently picked up this photograph and the buckle looks to my eyes to have a Jolly Rodger style design. What do you guys think? The music instrument is a so-called „Schalmei“. Circa 1932 I believe. Thanks

Thank you Wilhelm. In the future I need to purchase a better scanner for negatives. I believe I can do better than the image posted here. Unfortunately it was broken in half. I'm just happy to be able to post this now even if it is not the quality I wish it could be.Great photo and here one can see the best possible way what buckle they did wear.
Hi BlackWatch1,Banat Hitler-Jugend from a damage glass negative. Not the best quality sorry.
The Banat was a political entity established in 1941 after the occupation and partition of Yugoslavia by the Axis Powers in the historical Banat region. It was formally under the control of the German puppet Government of National Salvation in Belgrade, which theoretically had limited jurisdiction over all of the Territory of the Military Commander in Serbia, but all power within the Banat was in the hands of the local minority of ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche).
At the end of the war, in retribution, Communist partisan bands engaged in massacres of ethnic Germans, primarily in the area of present-day Vojvodina. Villages were wiped out, with the inhabitants either killed or forced into concentration camps, where many died of hunger or disease.
Found this on here:Hi BlackWatch1,
Beautiful photo of an unseen by me belt buckle, do we know if there was a DJ bann also, and did they wear that type of buckle ?
Best regards..Ewan
In some ways yes, but there is more beneath the wings of the bird.Could the badge on the boys breast pocket be a variation of the symbol on this Ausweis?

Hello. Fellow member Wilhelm Saris informed me these were former members of the Bund Königin Luise who joined the Bund Deutscher Mädel after the Luisenbund was dissolved in 1934.All girls are wearing the same clothes but on first sight it does not look like a standard BDM clothing. But it looks like early "Landjahr" or "Landdienst". Of course this is a group of the BDM and one of the girls has the typical climbing jacket under her arm. All girls seem to belong to the age group 16-18 that would speak for "Landdienst" . Usually boys had to join the "Reichsarbeitsdienst" when turning 17 years while girls served in the Frauenarbitsdiest which later was renamed to "Reichsarbeitsdienst für die weibliche Jugend ". I suspect it must be a photo from the early days of National Socialism, because all the girls are wearing the beret, which is rarely found in photos after 1934.
In the Landjahr and in the female Reichsarbeitsdienst girls did not always wear the ordinary BDM style uniform .Usually they wore a clothing that was better suited to typical agricultural work. Until now I did not find the use of the beret on pictures later than 1934. Of course there are always exceptions.
