Study of Fake M1/70 HJ Honour badges (HJ Ehrenzeichen)

Unfortunately found another on Hiscoll Military Antiques . I've been looking everywhere for a quality original but all I seem to find is these fake m1/70's or the B variation without serial number... I missed out on a beautiful display with DJ sports badge, dj Leistungbuch, HJ golden honor badge and photos all numbered to the same kid and the bloke bought it right out of my hands, wasn't too pleased and in retrospect I should have offered more to the seller because who buys something out from under somebody without waiting for a potential buyer to at least leave the item first? Life goes on nevertheless. The hunt continues ...

Thanks for the addition. I've added it to the list. Have you let Hiscoll know that these are fakes?

Look at his description by the way. It's the classic way to shift questionable/fake items on to the less-diligent buyer:

"A similar lapel-pin is also figured in the: 'Heering-Hüsken' lapel-pin-catalogue wherein it is given the unique-number '9301C'. I deem that this attractive honorary HJ youth-badge ie. 'HJ-Ehrenraute' is priced according to its unmistaken rarity and/or desirability!"

I'm not singling Hiscoll out because this may be an oversight due to not having seen the discourse on the M1/70 but this is how things often work. They just refer to a collector book and that is the full extent of their due diligence. The M1/70 has also been featured in Niemann's guide and of course you will see dealers/sellers using that reference too. The badge is a fake, no doubt about that, but because it is shown in a book the dealer/seller can say "Look, badge X is in X's book." The implication being of course that if the item is included in a post-war collector guide it must be authentic or at the very least have an air of authenticity about it. This is how the DJ knife scam started. Also, 9301C?!
